I wasn’t going to see it. I read a few bad reviews and a friend told me it was a film about a woman that invented a mop. Not my cup of tea. The reviews were probably right. But then something came over me and I decided to ignore the critics and buy a ticket. How bad could it be?

First of all I LOVE Jennifer Lawrence. i pretty much think she’s one of the most beautiful woman in the world, not to mention a great actress. I live in LA just like her and I’ll say it right now… She has a chance with me. (If she played her cards right.) Lucky lady!

Robert DeNiro is Robert DeNiro. He’s the greatest. I’d pay to watch him do push ups. (No homo.) Also Bradley Cooper, who is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors. I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I bought the ticket. If it sucked, i would walk out and get back to writing. But I didn’t walk out. In fact, I LIKED it. I liked it very much, actually. The story was inspirational, the acting was amazing. Was it perfect? Probably not. But I actually liked it better than a lot of the other movies that I saw recently.

There may not be any car chases and explosions or anything like that, but I really enjoyed this film. It and it reminded me a lot of my mother and my family when she was struggling to raise my brothers and sisters and I by building a business of her own. The set backs, the disappointments, the obstacles, the people working against her. I remember it all like it was yesterday. This movie is  a movie that you may think about skipping with “The Revenant” and the new “Star Wars” and “The Hateful Eight” running in a lot of the same theaters. I can see that. Maybe it’s not on the top of your list. But I liked it. That’s just my opinion. “Joy” was a joy.
